Hiroshima marks 69th anniversary of A-bombing
HIROSHIMA–Touching upon the inhumane aspects of nuclear weapons, Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui called on the central government to take the initiative in working toward nuclear disarmament.
Matsui read this year’s Peace Declaration on Aug. 6 in the ceremony held at the Peace Memorial Park to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the dropping of the world’s first atomic bomb on Hiroshima by the United States.
In the Peace Declaration, Matsui expressed that Hiroshima would make efforts to spread the call for nuclear disarmament in the international community. He also called on the central government to continue to proceed along the path of a pacifist nation.
